My sister is brave. I mentioned in a previous post about Jennifer's battle with kidney disease. Right now, she is in the middle of a chemotherapy treatment. Many people are successful with this treatment and go into remission for at least 5 years. On Tuesday, we will find out if this treatment is working. If not, there will be a change in the strength of the chemotherapy. This is definitely NOT what we want. With the current dosage, she is able to function (and I use that word loosely) and continue to teach.
However, she is at the breaking point. I have NO idea how she is continuing to work and parent these sweet babies. She NEEDS rest, but refuses to let this rude disease dictate her life. On the weekends, she goes and goes and goes. Soccer games, BMX racing (the children), picnics, bike rides, walks, etc. It is her goal to spend as much time as possible with her husband and children...even if she is too tired to lift her arms.
Instead of giving in, she has stepped up to the plate. Yes, her children see that she is super tired and swollen, but they have not seen their mother as "sick."
Jennifer and I spent the day together on Tuesday. We had lunch and shopped a little. By 5:00, she was done. She made it a lot longer than usual...because she hadn't been to work AND had gotten a lot of sleep the night before (her children were with me). When I looked at her on Tuesday night, I asked myself how in the world she is able to do all that she is doing. The only answer I could come up with is that "she is strong."
This is my first time blogging about a "giveaway," but I really want to win this for my sister! Lisa Leonard-It's the Little Things is one of my favorite blogs to read. She is very inspiring...and has fantastic taste in jewelry. She designs and creates amazing pieces. Lisa is currently going through a tough time where she has to be brave. Her son, David, will have heart surgery at the end of the month. She designed a new necklace that she calls "Brave Love." Right now, she is giving away 5 of these necklaces. 5! If you know anyone with a brave heart, this would be a perfect treat for them.
I promise you will find something you love in Lisa's Store. I could purchase one of everything!
